HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Morton High School Lady Potters on winning the 2017 Illinois High School Association Girls Basketball Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters are the defending girls 3A basketball State champions for the third year running, during which they have built an overall record of 100 wins and eight losses; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters finished the season with a record of 34 wins and two losses; they won the Morton Thanksgiving Tournament, the Peoria Regional, the Limestone Sectional, the Bureau Valley Super Sectional, and were the Mid-Illini Conference Champions; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters won a number of important games during the 2017 season, including defeating Chicago Simeon by a score of 56 to 41, and clenching the State Championship by defeating Rochester by a score of 44 to 37; and

WHEREAS, The 2017 championship team roster included Brandi Bisping, Jacey Wharram, Josi Becker, Caylie Jones, Kassidy Shurman, Tenley Dowell, Megan Gold, Claire Kraft, Bridget Wood, Maddy Becker, Lindsey Dullard, Courtney Jones, and Olivia Remmert; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters are led by Head Coach Bob Becker, who in his 18 years as head coach has crafted an impressive record of 415 wins and 144 losses, and by Assistant Coaches Bill Davis, Megan Hasler, and Brooke Bisping; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we join the many friends and fans of the Morton High School Lady Potters in congratulating them for winning the 2017 Girls Class 3A Basketball State Championship and we wish them continued success and a repeat championship in 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lady Potters as an expression of our esteem and respect.
