| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Illinois State Police |
| 4 | | (ISP) District 11 Interim Commander Captain Timothy Tyler on |
| 5 | | receiving the Public Servant Award from the National
|
| 6 | | Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Captain Tyler was unanimously selected by the East |
| 8 | | St. Louis Branch of
the NAACP for his contributions to the |
| 9 | | Greater East St. Louis
Community; his efforts to build |
| 10 | | relationships with the East St. Louis
community through youth |
| 11 | | and adult programs are designed to bring residents together
|
| 12 | | with law enforcement officers; he has been instrumental in
|
| 13 | | implementing programs such as Midnight Basketball, Kids Read, |
| 14 | | and Real Men
Read; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Captain Tyler has volunteered countless hours in
|
| 16 | | the East St. Louis community as a baseball and football coach |
| 17 | | for the Jackie Joyner Kersee
Center; he also mentors young boys |
| 18 | | on the importance of integrity, great
character, and avoiding |
| 19 | | peer pressure; he serves on several
community outreach and |
| 20 | | action committees with a focus on building the community
and |
| 21 | | eradicating gangs in the East St. Louis area; and

| 22 | | WHEREAS, Captain Tyler began his career with the ISP in |
