HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Illinois State Police 
4(ISP) District 11 Interim Commander Captain Timothy Tyler on 
5receiving the Public Servant Award from the National

6Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Captain Tyler was unanimously selected by the East 
8St. Louis Branch of
the NAACP for his contributions to the 
9Greater East St. Louis
Community; his efforts to build 
10relationships with the East St. Louis
community through youth 
11and adult programs are designed to bring residents together

12with law enforcement officers; he has been instrumental in

13implementing programs such as Midnight Basketball, Kids Read, 
14and Real Men
Read; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Captain Tyler has volunteered countless hours in

16the East St. Louis community as a baseball and football coach 
17for the Jackie Joyner Kersee
Center; he also mentors young boys 
18on the importance of integrity, great
character, and avoiding 
19peer pressure; he serves on several
community outreach and 
20action committees with a focus on building the community
and 
21eradicating gangs in the East St. Louis area; and
  
 
  
22    WHEREAS, Captain Tyler began his career with the ISP in

11998 and has worked in both
patrol and investigations; his work 
2in investigations concentrated on solving gang
and drug crimes; 
3he currently oversees patrol operations in District 11 
4(Collinsville)
and District 18 (Litchfield); and
  
 
5    WHEREAS,  Captain Tyler is a Lieutenant Colonel in the

6United States Army Reserve and was deployed to Afghanistan in 
72004; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10congratulate Illinois State Police District 11 Interim 
11Commander Captain Timothy Tyler on receiving the Public Servant 
12Award from the National Association for the Advancement of 
13Colored People; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Captain Tyler as an expression of our esteem and 
16respect.
