HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lena Moreland on the 
4occasion of her retirement as City Clerk for the Village of 
5Bellwood; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Lena Moreland's office duties and 
7responsibilities are diverse and require a considerable
amount 
8of dedication and commitment to ensure that the Village 
9conforms to
government and ethic rules and regulations and 
10functions effectively; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Lena Moreland has worked for the Village for 35 
12years and has served in the
capacity of Village Clerk for 16; 
13under her leadership, access
to village ordinances and other 
14government regulations have been implemented
and updated to 
15ensure transparency; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, First elected to office in 2001, Lena Moreland 
17received the Certified Clerk
designation from the Illinois 
18Municipal Clerk's Association; she serves on the Fire
and 
19Police Pension Board and as Village Collector, Corporate Seal 
20Keeper,
Board Secretary, and Record Keeper of all official 
21village meetings; she also
coordinates two of the Village's 
22main events, the Annual Family Day, and
the Senior Valentine

1Ball, both of which are always huge successes; and
 
2    WHEREAS, For 13 years, Lena Moreland has  served as a member 
3of the Bellwood Neighborhood
Watch Scholarship Fund 
4Corporation and Youth Director; she has coordinated the Annual 
5Family Day Picnic, PACE Bus Senior Services, and the
Annual 
6Youth Summer Program which provides summer employment for 
7Bellwood
youth; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Lena Moreland's dedication and love for the 
9citizens keeps her actively involved in
the community; her 
10prime motivation for serving the community is that she
believes 
11that members of government work for the people; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Lena Moreland and her husband of 50 years, 
13Charles, are the proud parents of
two daughters, Jennifer 
14(Robert) and Janel (Daryl); they  have three grandchildren,

15Robert Jr., Jazmyn, and Jocelyn; therefore, be it
  
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
17HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
18congratulate Lena Moreland on her retirement as City Clerk for 
19the Village of Bellwood, and we wish her the best in all her 
20future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
