| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 27-23.11 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/27-23.11 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 27-23.11. Traffic injury prevention; policy. The |
| 8 | | school board of a school district that maintains any of grades |
| 9 | | kindergarten through 8 shall adopt a policy on educating |
| 10 | | students on the effective methods of preventing and avoiding |
| 11 | | traffic injuries related to walking and bicycling, which |
| 12 | | education must be made available to students in grades |
| 13 | | kindergarten through 8. A school board shall review and, if |
| 14 | | necessary, update its policy at least once every 2 years.

| 15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
| 16 | | 2018.
